Hub Group's Innovative Program Increases Value and Service
Problem —
The customer needed a solution to its rising transportation costs at its facility. Carriers had increased their rates multiple times throughout the year while their service levels had decreased.
Solution —
Hub Group proposed to manage all of the outbound finished product from this facility with a dedicated on-site staff to handle all of the transportation needs. Through the introduction of new carriers, as well as some dedicated drivers, Hub Group was able to put together a program to hold pricing firm for the customer while improving service.
Result —
Hub Group was awarded the business—11,500 loads annually—and we are now being considered to replicate this successful solution at the customer's other facilities across the U.S.
Hub Brings Better Visibility and Service to Local Markets
Problem —
The customer, who ships highly seasonal product, was looking for alternative solutions to manage its transportation network, to increase levels of service and visibility to their customer service network.
Solution —
Hub Group proposed to manage the entire outbound product from multiple key facilities throughout the U.S. As the single source provider at these multiple facilities, we would be able to increase visibility to the customer and provide a dedicated team in local markets to service needs.
Result —
Hub Group was awarded several facilities throughout the country. We were then able to build dedicated teams on a regional basis by tapping into our existing network and allowing the local operations teams to manage the business in conjunction with the client's customer service.

BUSINESS CHALLENGE
Large organizations often reach a ceiling of supply chain complexity. It is common to see too many individuals, inside and outside the organization, controlling truckload, less than truckload and air expedited shipments. Often times, resulting in too many carriers, too little visibility and very little control of cost. Wyeth's executives were focused on the challenge and desired improvements in the following areas:
‹‹ Inventory Controls
‹‹ Receiving Schedules & Load
Leveling
‹‹ Optimization & Consolidation
of Inbound Shipments
‹‹ Management Reporting
Capabilities Specific to Inbound

‹‹ Cost Savings & Service
