OAK BROOK, Ill., Dec. 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — Hub Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: HUBG), one of the largest transportation management companies in North America, is joining the global #GivingTuesday movement with the launch of its #CauseContainer social media campaign, to raise awareness and donations for four partner charities.
In what’s believed to be an industry first, Hub Group commissioned the custom-painting of four of its 53-foot freight train containers to serve as “mobile billboards” for the charities, as they traverse the country, transporting a message of hope and action!
The charitable partners include: Bright Pink for their work preventing and detecting breast and ovarian cancer, Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago for their world-class pediatrics center, Fisher House Foundation for providing housing to military, veterans and their families during times of medical crisis, and PAWS (Pets Are Worth Saving) Chicago, one of the nation’s largest no-kill shelters.
“We wanted to use our containers in an innovative way to give back and raise awareness of charities near and dear to our employees and customers,” said Donald G. Maltby, Hub Group President and Chief Operating Officer. “Each of the Cause Containers support a distinctly different but important charity.”
Hub Group has made it easy and fun for people to Snap It – Tag It – Post It, to donate to their favorite charitable cause. Each photo of a Cause Container shared on social media with the hashtag #CauseContainer can earn up to $100 for the partner charity.
The Cause Containers, each fitted with a GPS device, can be located by visiting the website at www.CauseContainer.com. When a Cause Container is spotted on the road or the rails, people can take a photo and upload it to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram with the #CauseContainer hashtag. For each original photo, Hub Group will donate $100 to the corresponding charity. Each time an original photo is shared, whether from an individual, the charity or Hub Group, the company will donate an additional $1, up to $20,000 per charity. Hub Group is encouraging employee involvement in the Cause Container campaign by matching donations 1:1, up to $500.
