Hub Group, Inc. Wins US EPA SmartWay Environmental Excellence Award

Focus on Intermodal Conversion Demonstrates Reduced Greenhouse Emissions, Less Congestion, and Fuel Savings

DOWNERS GROVE, Ill., Oct. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Hub Group, Inc.
(Nasdaq: HUBG) received an Environmental Excellence Award from the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency SmartWay Transport Partnership. The award was
presented today at the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals’
annual conference in Denver, Colorado. Hub Group received the award for its
continued leadership in conserving energy and lowering greenhouse gas
emissions in the environment through its transportation management activities.

Hub Group was one of only three logistics companies to receive this award.
The award was presented to SmartWay Partners in five different categories from
among the more than 1,000 partners currently active with SmartWay. Hub Group
has been a member of SmartWay since 2004 and has maintained a focus on
educating customers and vendors about the environmental benefits of converting
shipments from the congested highways to intermodal.

sustainable transportation practices through the SmartWay Transport

environment and more secure energy supply.”

SmartWay was introduced by the EPA and a select group of fifteen shipping
and business leaders in 2004 as an innovative, market-based partnership to
reduce fuel use, greenhouse gas emissions, and air pollutants from the freight
sector. Today, more than 1,000 businesses and organizations have joined the
Partnership, including companies of all sizes, from Fortune 500 companies to
family-owned businesses. By 2012 the SmartWay program, with full industry
participation, estimates that it will achieve annual fuel savings of 3.3 to
6.6 billion gallons of diesel fuel, eliminating 33 to 66 million metric tons
of carbon dioxide emissions and up to 200,000 tons of nitrogen oxide
emissions.
