What does this recognition mean to you?
I have been privileged to work for Hub Group for over 19 years and this recognition, received as part of Hub’s 50th anniversary celebration, has utmost importance to me because I’ve seen Hub Group thriving and growing for a good portion of its existence and Hub Group would not be what it is today without people who go above and beyond every day. To be considered one of them by my colleagues is a huge honor and I’m very grateful for receiving this recognition. I have been very fortunate to assemble a great team of focused professionals that understand the importance of dedication and this award is for them as well.
What do you enjoy most about working at Hub Group?
The most enjoyable aspect of working at Hub Group is to see how we’re making a difference and how much we have improved over time. Our advantage is that we just need to get continuously better in what we do. Whether we’re talking about improved processes, upgraded systems, increased automation, enhanced equipment specification, etc. — all of that is achievable and everyone at Hub Group can contribute. Hub Group provides a tremendous opportunity to people who are willing to progress us forward — all it needs is a strong work ethic, integrity, positive attitude, hard work, and passion, and the door to a successful career at Hub Group is open.
What would you tell someone about what it’s like working at Hub Group?
I interview a lot of people and most state that they would like to work in a dynamic environment. I usually comment that they should be careful about what they wish for because it does not get much more dynamic than here at Hub Group. Part of it is the industry itself and part of it is the culture. Hub Group is certainly not an “old school”, slow, quiet, sleepy company. Quite the opposite. When I started years ago, my manager told me “you walk in in the morning with your hair on fire and you walk out in the evening with your hair on fire” and that’s how it has always been. While this could be overwhelming to some, for those who truly want to work in a dynamic environment, a career at Hub Group could be a wish come true.
